Cirque Dreams: Holidaze Mohegan Sun Arena - CT Theatre reviews
Rockettes
Absolutely amazing, worth the money. We splurged for center 3rd row seats, worth the hype. The set was incredible, every detail we could see. The rockettes are so gorgeous, the costumes were amazing. We went Christmas week, worried we would be too close. The skill and synchronization of the dancers is mind-blowing. The 3D opening was really cool, we could hear every movement. One routine we could hear their beads on costumes clicking when they moved. Perfect spot for my 10-year-old, 10/10 for my daughter and I.
He's still got it!
"The concert was good! However, there was a sense of "how many more times will there be?" lingering in the air. Cirque Dreams: Holidaze, at 79 years old, and his band still have it. It was evident that Cirque Dreams: Holidaze's sister struggled to ascend the stage stairs, his second guitar player recently retired, so the "family" is falling apart. Cirque Dreams: Holidaze himself appears to be ageless, with his voice and playing right on point. I had one reservation: He performed for only about 80 minutes, albeit nearly non-stop. Perhaps they had to end by 10:00 pm due to the nearby hotel, but then why subject the audience to an opening act? A standout was harmonica player Mickey Raphael. He is a true master on the instrument, and he had notably more solos than I remember from past shows. Overall - I'm happy I attended!"
A wonderful, magical experience
The show itself was phenomenal. Great special effects for an on ice show. We were blown away by the on ice choreography and they made sure to go through each movie and hit all the big songs. I enjoyed it as much as they did, but halfway through the first movie set, we got reviews of this being the best show ever. They really know how to make it paced well and attention keeping for the kids. For the price of entry per person for a Cirque Dreams: Holidaze show that covered this much, it was entirely worth it. I think so as well. The concessions were expensive, but we limited it to a couple of souvenir cotton candies. The best seats for this show are not front row, but about halfway up on either side at least here at the DFW venue. I enjoyed it more than the Disney broadway shows I’ve seen.
Disney brought the magic for this one.
Miranda Lambert was great!
I really enjoyed Cirque Dreams: Holidaze and the two other performers as well. Jerrod Niemann didn't engage much with the audience but did a great job. Chris Young was fantastic and engaged the audience the most out of all 3 performers, including Cirque Dreams: Holidaze. Cirque Dreams: Holidaze looked great with her amazing voice. Everything was as good as expected, but I wasn't blown away by anything. I would highly recommend seeing either of the two openers or her. I am looking forward to seeing her again, but I do hope they incorporate more of a stage show. It was sort of boring at points because they just played the music video behind her while she sang the song... a little cliche'. I really wish she would've shown more of her personal photos on the screen as I have seen a lot of artists do at their concerts. It was very to the point, which was fine, and she is one of my favorites, so I loved it anyways... but I left not feeling changed by the experience, and this is the first time I can say that. Maybe it's because I'm becoming a veteran attendee, but it just didn't stand out in my mind compared to other performances I have seen. I would recommend this, especially for a beginning concert goer.
